Ten LGBTQ couples celebrated their marriages at the Eaton Hotel in Hong Kong on Tuesday.

Although same-sex marriage is not yet legal in Hong Kong, the couples registered their marriages online through a process recognized in the United States.

Notable among the couples was 66-year-old entrepreneur Lucas Peng from Singapore and his partner of over 30 years.

The event, organized by wedding company Next Chapter, was part of Pride Month celebrations.

Despite recent lower court rulings granting some rights to same-sex couples, the Hong Kong government is appealing these decisions.

The Court of Final Appeal has instructed the government to create an alternative framework for same-sex partnerships within two years.

Secretary for Constitutional and Mainland Affairs Erick Tsang has stated that a mechanism for recognizing same-sex relationships is being developed.

Legal consultant Sarina Cheung advises same-sex couples to be well-informed about legal implications, especially concerning financial arrangements and inheritance.
