Hong Kong Home and Youth Affairs Secretary Attends Yellow Emperor Ancestral Ceremony in Henan

Alice Mak represents Hong Kong at traditional cultural event in Zhengzhou and meets officials and students during Mainland visit
The Secretary for Home and Youth Affairs, Alice Mak, attended the Ancestor Worship Ceremony of the Yellow Emperor in the Year of Yisi on March 31, 2025, in Zhengzhou, Henan Province, representing the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Government.

The ceremony, held annually in Henan, honors the Yellow Emperor, considered the cultural ancestor of the Chinese nation.

Zhengzhou, the capital of Henan, is recognized as the birthplace of the Yellow Emperor and one of China’s eight great ancient capitals.

The event is jointly organized by the People's Government of Henan Province, the Henan Provincial Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference, the Taiwan Affairs Office of the State Council, and other bodies to promote traditional Chinese culture.

During her visit, Mak met with senior officials, including Zhou Ji, Executive Deputy Director of the Hong Kong and Macao Work Office of the Communist Party of China Central Committee and the Hong Kong and Macao Affairs Office of the State Council; Liu Ning, Secretary of the CPC Henan Provincial Committee and Director of the Standing Committee of the Henan Provincial People's Congress; and Wang Kai, Deputy Secretary of the CPC Henan Provincial Committee and Governor of Henan Province.

In addition to her official meetings, Mak also met with Hong Kong students studying in Zhengzhou to learn about their academic and daily experiences on the Mainland.

She encouraged young people to take advantage of opportunities for study and cultural exchange across the border.

Mak is scheduled to return to Hong Kong following the conclusion of her visit on the same day.
