Special Traffic Arrangements Implemented for Happy Valley Race Meeting on April 2

Temporary road closures and diversions in place to manage traffic flow during race event
On April 2, special traffic arrangements will be implemented in the Happy Valley area to facilitate the scheduled race meeting.

These measures will commence approximately 50 minutes before the start of the first race for day meetings, or from 6:00 pm for night meetings, and will remain in effect until the dispersal of crowds following the event.

Pre-Race Traffic Measures:


Road Closures:

Southbound Wong Nai Chung Road, between Queen's Road East and the up-ramp outside the Hong Kong Jockey Club (HKJC), will be closed, except for vehicles heading towards the Aberdeen Tunnel.

Traffic Diversions:

Southbound Wong Nai Chung Road, between Village Road and the up-ramp outside the HKJC, will be re-routed to one-way northbound traffic.

Eastbound Queen's Road East traffic heading towards Wan Chai and Happy Valley will be diverted to turn left onto Morrison Hill Road.

Southbound Morrison Hill Road traffic heading for Happy Valley will be redirected via Sports Road and Wong Nai Chung Road.

Traffic along Queen's Road East will be prohibited from turning right onto Wong Nai Chung Road, except for vehicles heading to the Aberdeen Tunnel.

Vehicles from the Cross Harbour Tunnel destined for Queen's Road East will be diverted via the down-ramp from southbound Canal Road flyover to Morrison Hill Road, then turning right at the junction of Wong Nai Chung Road and Queen's Road East.

Vehicles from the Cross Harbour Tunnel heading for Happy Valley or the Racecourse will be redirected via the down-ramp from southbound Canal Road flyover to Canal Road East, then proceeding via southbound Morrison Hill Road, Sports Road, and Wong Nai Chung Road.

Post-Race Traffic Measures:

Approximately 35 minutes before the start of the last race, additional road closures and traffic diversions will be implemented:


Road Closures:

The up-ramp on Wong Nai Chung Road outside the HKJC leading to the Aberdeen Tunnel.

Southbound Wong Nai Chung Road between Queen's Road East and the up-ramp to the Aberdeen Tunnel.

Southbound Wong Nai Chung Road between Village Road and the Public Stands of the HKJC.

Westbound Leighton Road between Wong Nai Chung Road and Canal Road East.

Southbound Morrison Hill Road between Leighton Road and Queen's Road East.

Traffic Diversions:

Eastbound Queen's Road East at its junction with Morrison Hill Road will be reduced to one-lane traffic heading for northbound Canal Road flyover.

Traffic from the Cross Harbour Tunnel heading for Wan Chai will be diverted via the down-ramp from southbound Canal Road flyover to Canal Road East, then using the U-turn slip road beneath Canal Road flyover to Canal Road West and Hennessy Road.

Traffic from the Cross Harbour Tunnel heading for Happy Valley will be redirected via the down-ramp from southbound Canal Road flyover to Canal Road East, then proceeding via eastbound Leighton Road and Wong Nai Chung Road.

Southbound Morrison Hill Road traffic will be diverted to turn left onto eastbound Leighton Road.

Southbound Morrison Hill Road traffic heading for Happy Valley will be rerouted via eastbound Leighton Road and Wong Nai Chung Road.

Westbound Leighton Road traffic will be diverted to Wong Nai Chung Road.

Learner Driver Restrictions:

From one and a half hours before the first race until one hour after the last race, learner drivers will be prohibited from turning left from Caroline Hill Road to Leighton Road.

Additionally, learner drivers will be restricted from accessing the following roads during this period:

Shan Kwong Road between Yik Yam Street and Wong Nai Chung Road.

Village Road between its upper and lower junctions with Shan Kwong Road.

Percival Street between Hennessy Road and Leighton Road.

Canal Road East.

The service road leading from Gloucester Road to Canal Road flyover.

Parking Restrictions:

Parking spaces on southbound Wong Nai Chung Road, between Sports Road and Blue Pool Road, will be suspended from 11:00 am to 7:00 pm for day meetings, and from 5:00 pm to 11:59 pm for night meetings.

Vehicles found illegally parked within the affected areas will be towed without prior notice.

Motorists are advised to exercise patience and follow the instructions of on-site police officers during the implementation of these traffic arrangements.
