Hong Kong Showcases Innovation Drive at VivaTech 2025 in Paris
Secretary Sun Dong highlights AI initiatives and international collaboration at Europe's premier technology event

Professor Sun emphasized the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR) Government's commitment to fostering a robust I&T ecosystem through agile policies, infrastructure development, and global collaboration.
He highlighted the InnoHK research and development initiative, which promotes international R&D partnerships, and detailed plans for the establishment of the Hong Kong AI Research and Development Institute, supported by a funding allocation of HK$1 billion.
This institute aims to advance AI research and facilitate the transformation of R&D outcomes into practical applications.
Additionally, Professor Sun discussed the launch of the Artificial Intelligence Supercomputing Centre (AISC) at Cyberport, which began operations in December 2024. The AISC is designed to provide high-performance computing resources to support AI research and development, with computing power expected to reach 3,000 petaflops by 2025.
To further stimulate investment in emerging industries, the HKSAR Government has introduced the Innovation and Technology Industry-Oriented Fund (ITIF), valued at HK$10 billion.
