On May 16, the Environmental Protection Department (EPD) published the latest beach water quality ratings for 39 gazetted beaches and one non-gazetted beach in Hong Kong.
The assessment classified 30 beaches as Good (Grade 1), nine as Fair (Grade 2), and one as Poor (Grade 3).
Beaches rated as Good include popular locations such as Big Wave Bay, Repulse Bay, Shek O, Deep Water Bay, Clear Water Bay Second Beach, Golden Beach, and Turtle Cove Beach.
Discovery Bay Tai Pak Beach, the only non-gazetted site in the report, also received a Grade 1 rating.
Among the nine beaches rated as Fair were Clear Water Bay First Beach, Silver Mine Bay, and Silverstrand Beach.
The only beach graded as Poor was Ting Kau Beach, which was downgraded from Grade 2 the previous week.

The EPD noted that changes in grading are typically within the normal range of fluctuation in bacteriological water quality.
